Consolidation by Iltutmish

During his reign from 1211 to 1236, Iltutmish consolidated the Delhi Sultanate, defeated or subordinated rival claimants and secured wider recognition for his rule. During the 1221 Mongol crisis he avoided direct confrontation with Genghis Khan while Jalal al-Din Mingburnu fled toward the Indus, and he also completed major stages of the Qutb Minar.
