Bombay Stock Exchange Established
In 1875, Bombay brokers formalised the Native Share and Stock Brokers' Association, the institution that developed into the Bombay Stock Exchange. The association grew out of earlier informal gatherings of securities brokers, famously associated with meetings beneath a banyan tree.
