Formation of the Swaraj Party

After debate within the Congress over whether nationalists should enter the colonial legislatures, Chittaranjan Das and Motilal Nehru organised the Congress-Khilafat Swarajya Party at the turn of 1922–23. The Swarajists contested elections and sought to obstruct or expose colonial government from within the legislative councils.
