Communist Party of India Founded at Kanpur
A conference of communist groups met at Kanpur from 25 to 28 December 1925 and established an all-India organisation under the name Communist Party of India. The conference adopted a constitution and elected an initial leadership including S. V. Ghate; it brought together activists from several earlier communist circles.
