1946 CE · movement protest
Royal Indian Navy (RIN) Mutiny
On 18 February 1946, ratings at HMIS Talwar in Bombay went on strike over food, service conditions and racial discrimination. The revolt spread to dozens of ships and shore establishments, while demonstrations and sympathy strikes developed in several port cities. A Naval Central Strike Committee led by M. S. Khan and Madan Singh coordinated the action before the ratings surrendered on 23–24 February.
