Bairabi–Sairang Railway Line Connects Mizoram's Capital Region to the National Rail Network

On 13 September 2025, the 51.38-kilometre Bairabi–Sairang railway line was inaugurated, bringing rail connectivity to the threshold of Aizawl and linking Mizoram directly to the national rail network. Built across difficult mountainous terrain with over 140 bridges and 23 tunnels, the project was launched with new long-distance passenger services, including a Rajdhani connection to New Delhi, followed by regular freight operations that transformed regional logistics.
