India–EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement Enters into Force

On 1 October 2025, the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement between India and the four European Free Trade Association states—Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland—entered into force. Signed in March 2024, TEPA created a new trade, services and investment framework and was the first Indian free-trade agreement to include a commitment linked to investment and job creation. Official Indian material describes an investment objective of USD 100 billion over fifteen years and facilitation of one million direct jobs.
