Noida International Airport Opens as a New NCR Aviation Gateway

On 28 March 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Phase I of Noida International Airport at Jewar in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. Developed with an investment of about ₹11,200 crore, the first phase was designed for an initial annual passenger capacity of 12 million, with long-term expansion planned far beyond that level and an integrated cargo and multimodal transport role. Commercial operations began later in June. The airport created a second major international aviation gateway for the National Capital Region and became one of the most consequential new transport-infrastructure projects opened in India during the decade.
