Rise of the Chalukyas of Badami
Pulakeshin II came to the Chalukya throne at Badami around 610 CE and rebuilt Chalukya power across the Deccan. During the following decade his forces checked Harsha's southward expansion near the Narmada, helping establish the Chalukyas as a major Deccan power.
