The Deccan Wars
From the early 1680s until Aurangzeb's death in 1707, the Mughal court and much of the imperial army remained heavily committed to the Deccan. Bijapur was annexed in 1686 and Golconda in 1687, while warfare against the Marathas continued for the rest of Aurangzeb's reign, placing major fiscal and military strains on the empire.
