Nader Shah’s Invasion
In 1739, Nader Shah of Iran defeated the Mughal army of Muhammad Shah at Karnal, entered Delhi and extracted enormous wealth before withdrawing. The invasion exposed the military and political vulnerability of the later Mughal state.
