Battle of Buxar
In 1764, East India Company forces under Hector Munro defeated the combined forces of Mir Qasim, Shuja-ud-Daula of Awadh and Mughal emperor Shah Alam II at Buxar. The victory strengthened Company military and political leverage and helped produce the 1765 settlement through which it gained the Diwani of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa.
