Sir Syed Establishes the Aligarh School
On 24 May 1875, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan established Madarsatul Uloom at Aligarh as part of his wider programme to expand modern education among Indian Muslims. The institution developed into the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College in 1877 and later Aligarh Muslim University, becoming the institutional centre of the Aligarh Movement.
