Non-Cooperation Movement
Beginning in 1920, the Non-Cooperation Movement called for surrender of honours, boycott of colonial educational and legal institutions, rejection of foreign cloth and withdrawal of cooperation from British rule. The Congress campaign overlapped closely with Khilafat mobilisation and became a nationwide mass movement before Gandhi suspended it after the Chauri Chaura violence in February 1922.
