Central Assembly Bomb Case
On 8 April 1929, Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt threw bombs into the Central Legislative Assembly in Delhi as a political demonstration against proposed repressive legislation, distributed leaflets and deliberately surrendered. In their subsequent statement they argued that the action was intended 'to make the deaf hear' rather than to carry out a mass-casualty attack.
