Government of India Act 1935
The British Parliament enacted the Government of India Act 1935, creating provincial autonomy, expanding the electorate and proposing an all-India federation. The federal scheme never came fully into operation, but the Act provided much of the administrative and federal framework within which late-colonial government operated and several of its institutional arrangements were later adapted in independent India.
