INA Trials (Red Fort Trials)
Beginning in November 1945, Shah Nawaz Khan, Prem Kumar Sahgal and Gurbaksh Singh Dhillon were tried by court-martial at Delhi's Red Fort on charges including waging war against the King-Emperor. The trial generated extensive public sympathy for the INA and major nationalist mobilisation; although the three were convicted, the Commander-in-Chief remitted their substantive sentences.
