Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025 Comes into Force

The Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025 (No. 14 of 2025) received presidential assent and was published in the Gazette of India on 5 April 2025. A Ministry of Minority Affairs notification dated 8 April appointed that date for the Act to come into force. The legislation amended the Waqf Act, 1995, altering the statutory framework for the administration, registration and oversight of waqf properties in India.
