NISAR, the First Joint NASA–ISRO Satellite, Is Launched

On 30 July 2025, ISRO launched the NASA–ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) satellite aboard GSLV-F16 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota. Jointly developed by ISRO and NASA after more than a decade of cooperation, NISAR became the agencies' first joint satellite mission and combined NASA's L-band and ISRO's S-band synthetic-aperture radars for high-resolution observation of changes across Earth's land and ice surfaces. The mission subsequently entered its science phase and remained operational through the 2026 cutoff.
