India and the United Kingdom Sign the CETA Trade Agreement

On 24 July 2025, Indian commerce minister Piyush Goyal and UK business and trade secretary Jonathan Reynolds signed the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement in the presence of Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Keir Starmer. The pact followed the conclusion of negotiations announced in May and addressed trade in goods and services alongside provisions affecting professional mobility and other economic ties. Signing was a diplomatic milestone but did not itself put the agreement into force; domestic legal procedures still had to be completed.
