Vikram-I Marks India’s First Private Orbital Launch

On 18 July 2026, Skyroot Aerospace’s Vikram-I launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota and successfully reached orbit, making Skyroot the first private Indian company to conduct an orbital launch from Indian soil. The launcher deployed the SCOPE and Grahaa satellites into low Earth orbit on its first orbital attempt. The mission marked a major operational result of India’s post-2020 opening of the space sector to private launch providers.
