By 27 September 2026, severe rainfall and flooding across Uttar Pradesh had killed 56 people, injured 46 and damaged more than 1,000 houses, according to official figures reported during the disaster. The state received about 66.5 mm of rain against a normal 7.6 mm over the affected period, while major rivers rose and rescue and relief operations expanded. The disaster became one of the most serious flood episodes of India’s unusually weak and erratic 2026 monsoon season.
