National Stock Exchange Lists After a Decade-Long Wait

On 24 September 2026, the National Stock Exchange of India made its public-market debut after a decade-long effort to list. Its ₹225.6 billion, roughly $2.3 billion, initial public offering was among the largest in Indian market history, and the debut valued the exchange at about ₹4.5 trillion, or $47 billion. The listing was institutionally significant because NSE had transformed Indian securities trading since the 1990s but had repeatedly delayed its own public float amid regulatory and legal scrutiny. Becoming a listed company opened a new chapter in the governance and ownership of India’s dominant stock-exchange operator.
