Micron’s Sanand Plant Begins Commercial Semiconductor Production
On 28 February 2026, Micron Technology’s semiconductor Assembly, Test and Packaging facility at Sanand, Gujarat, was inaugurated and began commercial production. The government said the facility commenced shipment of the first made-in-India semiconductor memory modules, marking a shift from semiconductor policy and construction milestones to commercial output from a major global memory manufacturer in India. The plant was developed under India’s semiconductor incentive programme and became an early operational anchor of the country’s effort to build a domestic semiconductor manufacturing and packaging ecosystem.
