India Launches EOS-05, Its First Imaging Satellite for Geosynchronous Orbit

On 4 September 2026, ISRO launched EOS-05 aboard GSLV-F17 from Sriharikota. The launch vehicle placed the spacecraft into a sub-geosynchronous transfer orbit for subsequent orbit raising. EOS-05 was designed as India’s first imaging Earth-observation satellite to operate from geosynchronous orbit, providing a capability for repeated observation of broad regions from a high-altitude geosynchronous vantage point.
