Quit India Movement

On 8 August 1942, the All India Congress Committee meeting at Bombay's Gowalia Tank Maidan adopted the Quit India resolution, and Gandhi issued his 'Do or Die' call for an end to British rule. The colonial government arrested Gandhi and most senior Congress leaders within hours, after which strikes, demonstrations, underground networks and episodes of sabotage developed across many parts of India.
